Effect of Cu Nanoparticles on the Properties of PP-g-PHMG/PE Monofilament and Its Antifouling Application

The modified polyethylene monofilament was prepared by melt blending and spinning using (PE), polypropylene-grafted poly(hexamethylene guanidine) (PP-g-PHMG), Cu nanoparticles (CuNPs). effect of CuNP content on the structure, mechanical properties, antimicrobial properties monofilaments studied. In addition, antifouling property fishing nets evaluated. results showed that CuNPs were dispersed homogeneously in matrix as microaggregates. initial increase tensile strength attributed to restraint, whereas a decrease at 1.0 wt% due predominant total crystallinity. A bacteriostatic test had an obvious inhibitory Staphylococcus aureus. Furthermore, coupon PP-g-PHMG/PE/CuNP nanocomposite netting lower weight gain than PP-g-PHMG/PE (23.6% reduction) because combined antibacterial both PHMG CuNP. Therefore, has potential produce green efficient nets.
